We're now in the Zrkadlovy Haj culture house, where the Japanese and Korean festival took place.
What does "Nipponfest" and "Hangukon" mean?
Nipponfest and Hangukon are two distinctive festivals
that take place here in the same place
Nipponfest is focused on Japanese culture,
Whereas Hangukon is focused on it's overseas neigbour, Korea, so basically,
We are trying to introduce the best of both countries
So that people get to know the culture of the far East, represented by Japan and Korea.
What was behind the idea of making a Korean festival in Slovakia?
The idea of a Korean festival has already been in our minds for some time.
We started with Japanese festivals, that are well established by now
And we tried to come with something similar.
Now, we think the time is right for something extra that the Asian culture offers.
And so we chose Korea, because it's the 2nd most familiar here in our region
Because of the companies that we have here and people start to explore Korean cuisine and culture
That is very similar to the Japanese one and very different at the same time.
The history of Korea is totally different.
Did this festival meet your expectations?
I was very happy because this was the 1st year of such a festival.
I can say I'm quite pleased.
It isn't as big as other festivals, however, it met our standard in terms of organization.
I was surprised, as it kept me busy all the time, unlike during other festivals of such type
Where my expectations were not so fulfiled but here, the standard was really high.
Did you even join the Asian disco party last night?
Oh yes, we did. We were the last ones to leave. Actually, they had to kick us out (^_^).
